Presence
Soderbergh tests his film-making abilities in this clever ghostly tale captured wholly from the viewpoint of the phantom. After a clan with Lucy Liu as Rebekah plus Callina Liang as Chloe moves into their recent residence, the camera – representing the ghost – tracks their movements. The daughter appears conscious of the ghostly being, and it seems protective of her. However, the motive remains? It's a fun idea that avoids overstaying, including a revelation you might not see coming. Saturday 11 October, multiple showings, Sky Cinema Premiere

The Tammy Faye Biopic
In the conflict between faith and wealth, the winner is obvious for greed in this director's delightfully tacky biopic regarding the shamed religious broadcaster and her criminal husband. Andrew Garfield portrays the greedy Jim, who declares early on, asserting religious justification for riches. Both individuals set about monetising the people's Christian beliefs. It's an extravaganza of bad interior design, bad makeup and bad faith, yet Jessica Chastain achieves to present the real-life figure with compassion. October 14th, late night, on Film4
